Deeper Faith

Joyful Community

Reaching More ...

Mission: By Grace through Faith we accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We are called by God to glorify Him. As His body, through Word and Sacrament we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be ministers of God's unconditional love to all people. We do this through worship, mission outreach, witness, service, and learning.

Word & Grace ...

who we are as Lutherans

The simplest way to understand Lutherans is to hear the story of Martin Luther.

Luther grew up at a time when people were taught to be afraid of God. Luther, therefore, spent hour upon hour in the confessional booth, afraid that if he forgot to confess one little sin, God would cast him into hell.

Then Luther read the Bible -- not an easy feat in the time before the printing press when the scriptures were still copied by hand.

When Luther finally read God's Word, he discovered God's amazing grace.

Word and grace! That's the key to our understanding of what it means to be Lutheran! Those are the two pillars of our faith. As a church, we strive to follow the Word of God and be instruments of God's grace.

Believers ...

who we are as Christians

Every heritage has gifts, and for that reason we're proud to be liturgical and Lutheran. But more important, we're blessed to be Christian!

+ God created!

+ Jesus came to this earth out of love. Through his crucifixion, we are forgiven of our sins. He rose victoriously again to give us hope.

+ At Spirit of Joy, we believe in the Holy Spirit and find great joy in his presence!

We also believe that each denomination is a piece of one great big Christian pie. At our best, our churches and denominations point to the center -- which is Christ.

(At any denomination's worst, we stand at the edge of our big pie piece and are suspicious of the next group over.)

Come point to the center -- to Christ and the cross -- with us each week.
